Why we are offering this award

This award is intended to honour Seán F. Meehan, a MacEwan Alumni who passed away in 2017.

In his short time, Seán was actively engaged with student university groups, as well as an activist for the LGBTQ+ community and advocating woman's rights and leadership.

Seán found it rewarding to be a community volunteer whether for Edmonton's various food and entertainment festivals but especially ten-years he devoted to the artful Fringe.

He found solitude in writing, was an avid reader and supporter of local libraries. This award is intended to help a deserving nursing student who is in financial need, compassionate, shows leadership and is a community volunteer.
